I got married for money to a chinese national, in china
I admit, this was a dumb thing to do... it happened in may 2004, and let's just say I was "not in the best state of mind". I also must mention: I ended-up returning (after having real docs signed/ceremony preformed in china), not getting paid, and after hearing from my "liaison" that I would need to go back to china to finalize the process, I made the decision to NOT go back. Though I did sign papers here in america once I returned, but I have made NO FURTHER EFFORTS towards getting this man into the country, and wonder IF I am married, HOW I can find out (for as little money expended as possible), and what I will need to confess in order to get get a divorce, if am married.  :(

Could you provide more details? What documents did you signed and where?
Have you submitted any paperwork to the consulate in China?
Have you submitted any paperwork to USCIS here in US? If yes, what are the name of those forms? (For example: I-130, I-129F etc. )

Please be very precise as you may or may not be in trouble.

I wish I could be more precise than this:
I obtained forms, myself, at the u.s. consulate in china. I signed forms at the chinese official office, and when I returned to this country I was taken to a lawyer's office where I signed forms, I believe confirming marriage. I am not sure what the forms were, which makes me sound very irresponsible... because I was. I do hope I am not in TOO much trouble, but I am sure I will be in some. I would like to undo this mess. Thank you for answering so quickly! :(

i obtained forms, myself, at the u.s. consulate in china......
= this is a notarized copy of your passport.

i signed forms at the chinese official office...
    = this is marriage license.

and when i returned to this country i was taken to a lawyer's office where i signed forms, i believe confirming marriage....
= this is I-130 Petition for alien relative.

Your problem is you're married by Chinese law, and you go half way to recognition of your marriage from abroad. If I-130 is approved, it means your marriage is recognized by US law as well.

    What you should do is..
    1. File for annulment.. you can do it in US.

    2. Send a letter to USCIS stating that you wish to withdraw your application, indicate your receipt number and case number. If you don't know what they are.. contact your lawyer.

Don't mention anything about the deal you made with the guy... you might end up in federal prison plus a huge fine.

My advice: don't sign any paper without reading it first.

    Good luck..

You can file for either an annulment or divorce in the US.
