    ITIN for H4 spouse
    Hi,

I was in US - California from Mar 2007 to Dec 2007. For this period, I have W2 from my employer. I am married, and my wife is in India and will be joining me only in Jul or Aug 2008.

This is my first W2 from from my employer and I will be filing returns first time.

I got the W7 from signed from her and pass port Attested by a Notary in India.

Now received mail from IRS to submit a copy of passport with attested in US

Now my question is Will it be Legally valid if I get the original passport through courier and do the notary in US and then submit the copy to IRS for to get the ITIN?

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    1. You can send the original passport to the IRS. You will get it back with the ITIN.
    2. You can get the passport copy notarized at the American Embassy in India
    3. You can get passport here in the U.S. and get it notarized.
