    Shoplifting 2
I was with my girlfriend when she was caught shoplifting they arrested her but not me I followed them back in the door as they took her wondering what would happen they were up ahead of me a bit the loss prevention officer looked back at me an said what are you doing back there I saw you jump to the side I said I've done nothing she then asked me to come in the office as well she had a worker go by the area where I had walked the work returned to the office with 2 items the loss prevention officer asked me if I had those items I said no.she continued occasionally asking if I had them I said no she called for the police an she told them she had one arrested an one pending she continued asking if I had them an said she could look at the tape I told her to go ahead I had nothing an got rid of nothing I said why would I come back in if I had items on me I wasn't arrested.the loss prevention officer took my girlfriend to the washroom asking her if I had anything she was clearly unsure herself in her report she had one arrested one pending the record of calls to the station are one arrested one pending.ok so here's my queston when the police got there she told him she say me dump the other items an I was chraged as well with shoplifting should I fight it this is in canada I'm 33 an if I should just pled guilty I don't know what to do

Depeding on the dollar amount and your past record and what your girlfriend is going to ssay, yes, I'd get an Attorney to "fight this." So you want this as a permanent arrest record?

Straight from the website: "Where the stolen item is not worth more than $5000 it is known as Theft Under $5000 and is a hybrid offence, meaning that it can be treated either as an indictable offence or a less serious summary conviction offence, depending on the choice of the prosecutor. If dealt with as an indictable offence Theft Under $5000 is punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years and, if treated as a summary conviction offence, 6 months imprisonment, a fine of $2000 or both."

    I'd get an Attorney.

Is it considered shoplifting to consume something that you intend to purchase in a store before actually paying for it (e.g. a can of soda), even if you intend to pay for it all along and in fact do pay for it immediately after consuming it?
