Hello. We have a bathroom that has a 17 inch rough in from the wall to the C/L of outlet. When looking for 14 inch rough in toilets all we have found still would sit at least 6 inches or more away from the wall making it look as though it sits in the middle of the bathroom.

Are there any toilets on the market which would fit our situation and yet sit closer to the wall, e.g. 4 inches or closer?

Kind of makes you wonder what you took out of that opening, doesn't it?
While the make a handicapped bowl 16 inches high I've never see one that roughs at 16 inches. You have two options here 1) You cam move the closet bend **or** 2) You can move the wall. Or I guess you could put back whatever was in there or simply cap and cover it. Good luck in whatever you decide. Tom

Thanks speedball1 - I agree. Unfortunately our Gen Con took the old toilet that was leaking and threw it away so we can't tell what it was. Wall build out isn't an option - don't understand what you mean by "move the closet bend"?

If you didn't like moving the wall you're going to love this option.
To move the closet bend the floor will have to be jackhammered up and the closet bend moved back. After, the floor will have to patched and leveled. Your choice. Good luck tom

A 14" rough toilet should only leave the back of the toilet tank off the wall about 4" MAXIMUM. Not 6"!!

Try Kohler, American standard and Toto brand toilets. All these brands have toilets that rough in at a true 14" rough... so again, back of toilet tank should not be more than 4" maximum off wall.

You may even be able to install an offset flange (see pic... 1st one is an upside down cast iron offset flange... other pic. Is for PVC). But I think this job would be best left to a plumber to install for you, An offset flange will gain you 2" maximum... but that would bring that 17" to 15", which would result in 2"-3" between toilet tank and wall with a 14" rough toilet).

Otherwise, you can move the toilet pipe/flange as Speedball1 has suggested to get you to a normal 12" rough toilet!

Here's a idea. Why not install a regular 12" or 10 inch toilet and then build a cabinet behind it to eat up the space. It could be a medicine cabinet or simply ba what-not shelf but any thing to take up the space. Just noodling off the top of my head. Regards, Tom
