    NYS Trooper, PA resident
A trooper from NY gave me a ticket for "uninspected motor vehicle-exp nyinsp-08/07"
And another one for "unregistered motor vehicle". Can they do that to a PA resident in
A vehicle with a PA license plate while driving in NY?

Of course - or else we'd all register our cars and get drivers licenses in one State and then drive like blazes in another. Or drive uninspected or uninsured or unregistered.

Law enforcement isn't limited only to people in their own State -

You asked if a Police Officer in one State can enforce the laws of another. Yes, they can.

I don't know why the Police Officer or the State care. That's for a discussion thread, not a legal thread.

If you were in compliance with the laws in which the car was plated, then by all means argue the ticket.

Did you give the trooper your valid PA registration, proof of insurance, and was your PA inspection sticker up to date?

If you have a valid PA drivers license, and the car is registered (and current) in PA, and the license plate is current in PA ** does PA require an inspection, I know GA and TN does not require any inspectoins**

But if you are driving an unlicensed car that is not currently inspected anywhere, yes they can.

Yes, Pennsylvania requires annual inspections - and NYS requires that expired inspection stickers be removed from the windshield. You can't - which may be the case here - take a car to another State with an expired NYS sticker still on the windshield.

I'm only guessing but I doubt there was a current PA sticker - or else there would have been two (PA and NY).
