    Word
    Hello:

I bought a computer with Office pre-installed. I'm trying to buy it, but it's harder than I thought.

However, I don't need Office. What I need is word processor that can read my old Office/Word 2003 files. That's all.

Is there a shareware or freeware word processor that will do that?

These guys (you've got to love the GNU project)

    AbiWord

Haven't used it myself though so I can't review it. Although if I remember rightly this is the one my supervisor likes and he know about stuff like this :)

I'll second Ben's recommendation of OpenOffice. I use it on my personal laptop and am getting my little one used to it.
