    Home turntable ground wire
I looked at a couple turntables in the store and noticed none of them had a ground wire. Do today's turntables not need a ground? I still have my Yamaha receiver that I bought in the mid 80's. I still have a lot of old albums and I noticed vinyl is making a comeback. I would like to buy a new turntable but I don't know if the new ones not having a ground will work with my old receiver.

Somw mfr's are offering USB and other's are putting the equlization pre-amp in the turntable. For these, no ground is required.

A friend just recently bought an Audio Technica turntable which he is really happy with. He went through calling the company about the ground and it wasn't required.

If you notice a hum, try touching/connecting the ground.
