    Recommended Thermostats
Hi, I want to replace my existing thermostat to a programmable one. I purchased one but it turned out to be the wrong one it only had 4 wires. Apparently I need one with 8 wires. Can anyone suggest a thermostat with more than 4 wires? I've been looking and lookingand can only seem to find ones with 4 wires.

I need to know what kind of system you have that needs 8 wires, heat pump? Two stage heat/two stage cool? What are the terminal markings of the old thermostat. Honeywell's 8000 series is very user friendly and has many different styles for your type of system.

It's for my electric furnace (heat/AC)
Actually there are only 7 wires and the are as follows:

    W2 White wire
    E Black wire
    O Orange wire
    Y
    R Yellow wire
    C Blue wire
    G Green wire

Sorry, I don't know much about eletrical devices

I currently have a Honeywell non programmable, not sure of the model.

I think it is 2 stage heat/ 2 stage cool
