    California eviction notice
If you lease a house in California and have lived in the house for 6 months (on a 1 year lease) what is the required time by the land lord to give you an eviction notice?

It's 3 days to pay if you've got the notice to quit, then it's 30 days if it's an actual eviction notice.

    Hello just:

If you're in violation of the lease, the landlord can file for eviction immediately. If he and the courts are efficient, the sheriff could show up to escort you to the curb in about a month.

It depends on why he's evicting you. The eviction process generally goes like this.

    1) a notice given you 3-7 days to vacate stating the reason.
    2) upon expiration of that notice, the landlord requests a court order for eviction
    3) a hearing is held and the order granted (if grounds are correct)
    4) the order will give a few days to vacate
    5) on the expiration of the period in the court order, the landlord can show up with a sheriff to remove you.

The time frames are dependent on local laws and activity. So it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
