Can a residential tenant in Florida withhold rent in escrow for a landlord not providing appropriate interior maintenance?

    Hello ric:

We have a copy of Fl landlord tenant law right here on a sticky note. You can see for yourself. Plus, if you can, you can find out how to do it legally.

There are links to state laws at the top of this forum. But most states do allow rent to be withheld in an escrow account or used for neglected repairs. However, to do so you have to follow the letter of the law. Generally you have to document the request for repair, document that it was ignored, make sure the rent is paid into the account on time, etc.
