Information on accounts of loves ones who have died
If someone dies without a will, and the mother or farther want to find out about their childs account information, how do they go about that.

The bank will not release any information because they are not on the accounts. The parents do not want to the money, but to know that someone did not use his funds after his death or just before.

The Executor can get this info - otherwise it is sealed to the "public."

What is in the bank account on the D/D should be listed on the probate papers - but that doesn't tell you what was in the account the day before he/she died.

The parent needs to get themselves declared the executor of the estate. Check with your local probate court on how to go about doing that.

What if the son's name was used by someone else but used as a minor, but the son was not a minor?

Okay the mom and dad do not live together anymore.
The dad has a new wife and she ( the wife went to the bank and open an account under the son's name and said he was a minor so she needed to have control over the account. The son is 26 years old, he is not a minor, nor was he a minor 2 yrs ago when they open the account.

The son had another account that he opened on his own, and when he died the real mom let the one bank that her and her son knew the son had an account at, but in the mail after the son died, came a bank statement saying that this other account was closed due to death. THe real mom went to that bank to find out what this account was and they told her, that his mom closed it out right after the death, and that the mom was in charged due to the son being a minor. She them told them she was the mom and had no idea of what was going on, and they told her the name of the mom and it was the ex's husbands new wife, not her.

Okay, if the money was in his name OR her name as guardian/trustee then it was HIS asset on his date of death and the proceeds must be distributed according to the law in your State. If it was a joint account, then it's hers.

Your son's stepmother is not entitled to inherit in any State I know - not while natural parents are alive.

Whose money was in the account? Was it a joint account in which case she could close it.

I don't see the purpose of saying he was a minor when he was not - do you?

If I'm following this, your son's stepmother opened a joint account in herand your son's name, claiming he was a minor. Then when your son died, she went to the bank where he had an account and used this other account to clean out this other account,

In that case she committed fraud and you should report it the police,

And again, it is the estate of the person who died, to report this to the police and to sue the person, So you need to get with the person who is over the estate.

You don't have to get the executor to report this to the police. If you feel you are entitled to a share of his estate, you can report it.
