My husband just recently installed laminate wood flooring throughout the house. Can someone please recommend how to clean these floors? Some people have said just spray a little water and damp mop. Can it be cleaned with any kind of cleaner? I just bought some Murphy's Oil for wood floors but on the back it says you can use it on laminate. When I used it though it looked kind of smeared looking. Please assist!

All of the home improvement stores carry cleaners specially formulated for laminate floors. I think the Murphy's Oil will leave a residue that will attract more dirt. I have found that spraying a bit of Simple Green on the damp sponge mop cleans stubborn crud quite nicely.

I used a swifer on my lam. Floors. Try taking of your boots once in a while, this might keep the dirt down.

Do not use Murphys oil on your laminate floor, Laminate has no pores & therefor cannot absorb the oil. You will be creating a slippery surface & a mess to clean. Really just a damp cloth or mop works great.

Using damp mob is a good idea along with normal cleaners, too much of water or liquid could also spoil the floor. Flooring san francisco offers details on laminate flooring.

I have used a 10% bleach solution (90% water) for years on my laminate floors and it has not damaged the flooring at all. I use this solution to disinfect because I have cats. It cleans well, doesn't leave any odor and disinfects... all things I need to accomplish when cleaning my floors. I mix the solution in a spray bottle. I use a dry dustmop with interchangeable heads. I spray a small amount of solution onto the mop and clean an area until it appears the mop is dry again. Then I respray the dustmop and continue this process until I'm done. I do not use a damp/wet mop... ever. I can throw the dustmop head into the washer on a hot/bleach wash when it needs cleaned, and I keep one extra around, so I always have it available to clean. It is fast, thorough, and convenient. I hope this helps!
