    Which form should I use to file tax return
    Hello,

    I was in the US last year for 4 months. I was on H1 along with my wife who was on H4. I have the following queries regarding filing the tax return for 2007:
    • What form I should use to file the return?
    • Can I eFile?
    • I understand that I need to submit a notorized copy of my wife's passport for ITIN. How do I notorize it here in India?

    You need to file a dual-status return, which involves filing BOTH Form 1040 and 1040NR.

    This is NOT a return to be file by an amateur; get professional tax help.

    You CANNOT efile.

    You need to get the passport photocopy certified by either the U.S. embassy or a U.S. consulate office, as the IRS will NOT accept notarized documents from India.
