Shapely legs
Hi I have a peculiar problem
I am 5'8'' and I have the longest, thinnest legs. I was just wondering if anyone knew how I chould shapen my legs up and what exercises could I do to give them a more defined shape and less stick-like? People say my legs are fine as they are but I mean, they only say that because I'm slim. Any advice would be appreciated :)

I have a few suggestions, to increase muscle mass and shape, but I want you to remember, "genetics" affect proportions of your body and how you are shaped, even your weight and have something to do with what you can achieve also. Try a bike, or bike machine, stepper machine, dancing, squats with weights, for a daily workout 4-5 times a week, work out till a little sore and then build up from there the number of reps.
Run up and down stairs, build up to about 1/2 hr a session daily 4-5 times a week. Walk, build up to a mile a day or 1 hr. of walking 4-5 times a week. Or exercise like:
*Lie flat on floor, place hands on hips and lift your legs at right angle to body. Bend at the knee and straighten each leg alternatively in a rotating motion (like biking).
*Lift weights, work the whole body. This is best for toning, shaping and building muscle mass, If you have access to swimming this is another good over all body toning activity.

Horse riding (english style) is fantastic for shaping legs, and much more fun than reps. All that rising trot will get you shapely legs in no time. :)

I'd love to try that but I have no clue where to do that
And I'm sure it would be quite expensive...

Yeah it can be expensive unfortunately. I used to ride loads until I couldn't afford it anymore :( Are you in the USA? I know they do some English riding but it might be harder to find than the UK/Europe. It's the best workout I ever had though, legs, arms and posture. It gives you great stomach muscles and core strength. The internet or the phone book is usually the best way to find stables.

When I started it was about £15 but I think it is usually £20-25 an hour for an adult as horses cost more to keep. There are places that charge more but I wouldn't pay it as a beginner as you'll be being ripped off. If they are much cheaper question why- they could be cutting corners in horse care.
If you ask for group lessons the they are always cheaper than private ones, and to tell you the truth when you start you are thankful for the break when other people are being instructed! Some places allow block bookings with a discount. If you find somewhere check that it is BHS (British Horse School) approved as that makes sure they are up to scratch with their health and safety and animal welfare.
West london has some great places to ride, I used to ride close to there myself.
Good luck!
