    Carrier Gas Burner lost power
    Hi,

I am having a weird problem at home now: For no reason, my GAS burner suddenly lost its electricity power. The light on it went off. It's a Carrier GAS burner, supposedly very good, used only 4 years.

I checked the main service panel, everything seems OK. However, no power to the burner itself. Even I know for sure, nobody has touched it.

    Please, any advice is welcome.

    Thanks!

Did you just look at the circuit breaker, or did you actually turn it clear off, and back on? Sometimes they are tripped and don't look like it. Next, go the unit and see there is a fuse near where the power goes into the it.

If you don't find anything, then you need to track down where the problem is. You will need to check for voltage with a volt meter, test light, or a voltage detector.

I came across the niftiest gadget for trouble shooting, a voltage detector. They work through the insulation of wires. There are several brands. I have a GB Instruments GVD-505A, less than $15 at Home Depot. Touch it to a hot wire, and the end glows red. Find the doodad that lights it on one side, and not the other, and you have the culprit.
