    How much deck to remove
I am trying to remove the inner part of the deck as water is getting into one of the bedrooms. I have found that under the decking is more board, so I don't know how much decking I can take away in case it leaves too much of a gap. Can anyone help.

It sounds like your deck was not properly flashed where it attaches to the home. I'd explore improving the flashing rather than removing decking. "under the decking is more board" do you mean you have more than one layer of decking surface boards?

If the other boards are running perpendicular to the deck surface I think you are talking about floor joists. Are they perpendicular?

Yes, but I think you were right about putting flashing along the inner part of the deck. Thanks for your help bellengerb
