Pontiac grand am dying out again
I have a 96 Pontiac grand am that is giving us fits. It dies out at the end of the street (stop sign) Can start up again, but have to keep driving. We've had it repaired (fuel line, fuel pressure gauge) was told the engine was flooded (the car went through a period of not even starting prior to having the fuel pump gauge replaced. Why why why if the fuel gauge was replaced does the car still die?? Can it be an idle problem? Does anyone out there have an idea about this?? Thanks, HelenAg

Has it had a tune up?
    Was the fuel filter changed?

Yes, the fuel filter was changed and the whole fuel line replaced. Don't know when it was tuned last.

If there is an Advanced Auto part store near you they will diagnosis SOME things.
    You could try there maybe.

It's likely an ignition system problem:

    . Check for codes.

. Replace spark plugs (ACDelco only) and spark plug wires.

. Test/replace coil(s) and Ignition Control Module. AutoZone can often do this for free.

Last time this happened it turned out to be the fuel regulator---the engine would flood out. That has been repaired. Prior to this, I had periodical stall outs, but when restarted, the car would go fine. Almost always the stalling took place feet away from where I started the car. I noticed then that if I warmed up the car real well, my chances of a stall were lessened. This is crazy sounding I know. Could it be an idle problem? Sparks were just replaced. Thanks for the answers.

What about the halo? Quad 4 isn't it?

These are known to carbon track and miss.
Maybe your fouling plugs isn't a fuel problem but a lack of spark.
