    Restoration of firearms ownership
I have a domestic violence charge on my criminal record out of Cedar Rapids Iowa. I pleaded guilty and waived my right to trial. This was eighteen years ago, 1990. I just tried to purchase a firearm and found out I am disqualified under Federal law. Can anyone direct me to a legal source of any help? Preferably a really good law firm in the state of Iowa, I live in Colorado. I honorably preformed service in defense of our nation for four years and honestly I wish I never did one day! :(

The law is the law in regards to buying and owning firearms legally. There is nothing you can do about this now thanks to 911.

    Hello William:

I suspect you were convicted of a misdemeanor rather than a felony. Therefore, your gun ownership rights have NOT been removed. You may very well need an attorney to straighten this out for you.
