Wedding favors and flowers?
The wedding date is September 11th, 2009. I know that is a long time from now but we are planning early so we have everything ready to go a month before so we are not rushing and can actually enjoy the moment. I want to have everything planned out and ready to put deposits down by this October. I am having a hard time of coming up with an idea for wedding favors. I want something unique, elegant, and not expensive. I am very creative and can make a lot of things myself so you if you have any idea for any homemade things, feel free to share. Also since it is in the fall, I am planning on having the colors be a dark brown, kind of like espresso color and a light creamer brown, like champagne color. I cannot for the life of me think of any flowers that could match that. I am trying to avoid roses, so if anyone has any ideas of what kind and color flowers would match well, I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks

My cousin's wife handmade cards for her favors. She took off-white card stock and embossed designs on them and then made matching envelopes. She bundled them in threes with coordinating ribbon for her wedding colors. It was very nice.
My sister-in-law had decks of cards personalized (their family is big-time into card playing).
A friend of mine decorated small paper boxes and placed a few pieces of maple candy, shaped like a maple leaf, with coordinating ribbon.
As far as your colors go, have you considered just going with fall colors? You should be able to find something at a florist that compliments the colors you like, and tie it in using ribbons. Take a fabric swatch to a florist, they should have a ton of ideas for you.
Good luck and congrats!

I got married in September, and my colors were similar. Some flowers that I used were Callalillies and Gerber Daisies, which come in a ton of different colors! For my favors I made chocolate covered pretzels with fall colored sprinkles on them, put two in a clear bag and tied it with matching ribbon, and connected a hand made card to each. It was fairly inexpensive if you are willing to do the work :) Good Luck!

How about these cute tootsie roll organza bags in brown -- they're not too expensive and cute as can be:

Fall flowers, leaf decorations and grape clusters would add a fall touch
Place each favor on a fall leaf
Pumpkin or cinnamon scented candles
Floating candles

The one favor I remember from the plethora of weddings that I have been to and in was my cousin's favors. She bought a bunch of Christmas ornaments - she bought glass bells - and tied a ribbon with their names on each one. Every Christmas when I get out my ornaments for the tree, I see those little bells and think of her.
