    Honeywell thermostat wiring
I've seen similar questions, but I need exact instructions. My old thermostat is wired as follows:
    W-Blue wire
    G-Green wire
    R-Red wire
    C-White wire
    Y-Yellow wire

    New thermostat has:

    Rh
    Rc
    W
    Y
    G

Obviously, the green and yellow match up, but the blue wire on the old one is on W. Where do the white, red and blue wires match up?

The old one is Carrier. I don't know the model number, but there are 5 wires as I said. The new one is a Honeywell programmable Model No. RTH230B. Please be very specific as I know almost nothing about wiring. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

These are the best instructions available.

Please read 2 and then under it item 2.1 This will tell you exactly how to remove and mark the wires from your old thermostat and how to do your new thermostat install. Then just READ and Follow the rest of the directions.

This information is from the company that made your thermostat

Thanks, I have that paperwork. I just don't understand which color wire goes to Rc, which color wire goes to Rh and why the white wire is connected to C and not W, which is where the blue wire is. There is no C on the new one.

I have no idea what wires go where at you home. Many times the old wires did not conform to the color code. That is why they told you in the directions that came with your nre thermostst to mark exactly where the old wires came from so you can use the wiring diagram that came with the new thermostat to hook them back up.

TRY to look in the beginning of this board under stick notes. There is thermostat information there.

Last but not least you might have to got to the furnace and see what the wires are connected to there to figure it out.
This need to be exact or damage can result that is why I do not like to guess.

Usually red does got to RH and RC with a jumper between.
