3-year old girl with urinary track infection
My 3 year old granddaughter has a urinary track infection (UTI) since yesterday. We took her to the doctor's office twice yesterday. First she woke up with fever and a rash on her chest and face and the doctor checked her, and said that the had a viral infection but to kee an eye on her for the weekend. He did the strep test and it was negtive. When we came home, she started crying and stiffening up and holding her private part and screaming in pain.
Her mother told me that she had woken up the night before crying and all peed on the bed. She is not potty trained yet, we are working on it. So we decided to take her to the urgent care clinic and they did a catherer to her a sample of urine and diagnosed her with a UTI. They gave her antibiotics and sent us home. Again, last night she woke up crying when she peed and this morning her diaper was dry and all of the sudden she tells me that she had to go potty. Took her to the bathroom, took off her diaper and there in the middle of the bathroom she started crying and peed all over the floor. Of course, we put her in the tub and told her that it was OK and gave her a bath.
Does anyone know how to get her over this "traumatic" event, and if she is going to get better soon. I don't want her to think that she has to hold it in because it hurts and then wait and pee on the floor.
Don't want to send the wrong message, but don't want her to get used to peeing on the floor.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Thanks.

You are just going to have to work with her and being reassuring.
Maybe giving her warm baths in baking soda would help comfort her.
Make sure she takes all the antibiotics and have her eat yogurt to replace the good bacteria.
Antibiotics and yogurt have to be hours apart though.
Keep giving her the yogurt even after the antibiotics are gone.
