    Polybutylene pipes
I need to replace the hardware in my shower. Because I have polybutlyne pipes in my mobile home. Does anybody know of the recall & what can be done. I did not know of the recall. Am I too late to have my plumbing repaired?

Honey, the recall was back in the late 1990's. It's way too late to do anything about it now I'm afraid. Just be sure not to put the same pipes back in your home when the old ones come out. FYI just so you don't think you missed anything, the recall was a joke to put it mildly. I tried to get in on it and spent countless hours sending them documents only to find that my very expensive repairs done to my home due to the pipes breaking was a waste of time as I got zero out of this and I was eligible under their guidelines. Just to show you how wonderful the class action lawsuits are. The only ones who made a dime out of that was probably the attorneys as I never saw dime one and I had at least $2,000 in repairs alone.

There are replacement fittings that go from polyb to pex. It comes in a kit with 1 fitting and 2 compression collars. Remove any damaged pipe that is to be replaced with pex, slide the right collar over the appropriate pipe crimp the collars with the crimping tool (you can rent these) and your job is done.
