I am looking for a permanent hair straightener for my hair. My hair is super curly and the older I get the curlier it gets. I have a Chi and I love it but I don't have time to do this everyday and when I use it too much my hair is damaged. Plus the fact that if my hair gets the slightest wet or I sweat it curls right back up. I have use chemical relaxers, perm straighteners and even got a perm with the largest rods and nothing works. It doesn't last longer than a month at the most. My hair is down to the middle of my back and like I said it is super curly, really tight curls. I don't care how much I have to pay to get straight hair. Please HELP!!

Find a hairdresser who has naturally curly hair. They aren't that hard to find if you ask around. Someone who straightens hair frequently probably knows the best chemical(s) to use. It is so easy to damage naturally curly hair. A good straightening product can help keep it straight.

If you live in a warm wet climate, curly hair just loves to react to your sweat and the humidity. Arizona is nice and dry! Working in an air conditioned climate helps keep hair straight, till you walk outside. Chemicals and heat are bad for hair. The ultimate solution would be to get a scalp transplant, with round hair follicles. If only...

I am white and I live in East Texas so getting away from the humidity is not an option. I have gone to a professional and spent lots of money. Also staying inside is not an option. I coach both softball and baseball, girl scout leader, mother of three, live on a farm, room mother for two of my children, and spend most of my time outside working with my husband who is a welder. To say I don't have much time to spend on my hair is an understatement. I just want it to be low maintenance and look good. I am not a girly girl and I have dealt with curly hair for the most part but it is getting more curly every year. I am guessing I got this from my grandmother who had super tight curls and basically looked like a corkscrew. I do on occasion use my chi and love it but I simply don't have time and don't want to damage my hair, it is finally getting better after what I have already done to it. Has anyone heard of the pill and if it is available?

I have suggestion that may seem odd, but it has worked for my children and friends with the same issue. Use products specifically created for African American hair. You don't have to spend a lot of money, you can probably go to the local dollar general store or walmart. Get yourself a shampoo and conditioner specifically for relaxed hair. The conditioner should be VERY thick, about the consistency of brownie batter. Be sure to check the scent of the product before you buy... some of the natural ones are fairly stinky. If you can avoid it, don't wash your hair every day. If you are willing to embrace your curls, then after you wash and condition your hair, add a product like sunsilk straighten up , fructis curl and shine leave in conditioner, or frizz ease by john frieda. (no, this isn't a commercial, these are actually products that I have used for my children that have been good. If you have VERY hard to handle hair, use a pomade to keep your hair from frizzing and make it shiny. Doing these things should make your very curly hair manageable, and keep you from having a 70's style afro by the end of the day. I know this is not a way to straighten your hair. I am honestly not aware of a perfect way to straighten the hair without damaging it. You may already know, but the shorter the hair, the easier to deal with when it's curly. You may think of going to a pixie style cut (make sure you have a very experienced stylist for this one, or you will end up looking like a q-tip. And a loose braid after you comb through it in the morning helps it stay neat.

Loreal company is working on hormone pills to changes hair texture from curly to straight and vis versa to since I think 2005, it is not out yet, I guess, but I read on some forum than MSM can change hair texture, the woman on the forum said she has kinky hair and relax her hair every 2 weeks but since taking MSM her hair got very soft, but I think not all MSM brands are the same, the other ingredients in it make a big difference, you can Google MSM changing hair, the first heading is about treasuredlocks, but the second one is the one about MSM
