    What's a petition for a judgement?
Hi, I have a credit card company that sent me some huge official looking document that said arbitration awarded in favor of creditor and that it was a petition for judgement. Does this mean they served me with a judgement? I didn't see a court date or anything on there. I've sent it to my debt consolidating agency to work on but I'm worried that I need to call the court house or something to make sure I'm not suppose to show up for a hearing... what should I do?

Does the document have a case number on it? If not, I'd say it is probably some type of scare tactic and might even be illegal.

Call the company it came from, ask them why you received it.

There can be no judgment without going to court, unless they used some form of service like posting in a newspaper or something like that, you would have been served papers to appear for the hearing.

Credit Counseling Agencies are well known for letting things slip through the cracks, you may want to double check with all your creditors to find out what the status is on each of your accounts that they are "taking care of" for you.

    Good Luck!

Also remember if they have not made a written arrangement with the company yet they can sue you till they make a written agreement ( if they do, there is no requirement that they have to settle with the company.

They can just tell the credit counseling company no and sue you. So you should be very careful with what they send.
