    Scottgem, you out there?
    I could use your help

A few of our computers on our network have received this pop-up in the last day or so:

"Windows cannot find 'avupdate.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and the click Search."

I Googled "avupdate.exe" and it is a worm, I think. We don't have this file and we have so far closed the boxes using the red x box.

Do you have any info on this. Is it a big concern?

    Thanks!

What probably happened is the worm got in, but was detected and quarantines or cleaned out. But some entry was left that is trying to run it. Since it can't be found you get that message. I would look in the Startup under MSCONFIG to see if its being called from there. Otherwise you may need to clean out in the Registry.
