    Kitchen sinks is spitting up
I came home and noticed that my kitchen sink had released it's drain. I turned on the hot water to clean out the sink. Since it was slow draining I turned on the garbage disposal to assist. It helped, but as soon as I turned the garbage disposal off, the drain released all of the water that had recently drained.

I removed the "U" shaped connector on the pipes to see if it was clogged; it did not appear to be. After running hot wat:confused:  er and allowing the pipe to drain while disconnected, I reconnected it. However, the water still did not drain and when I used the garbage disposal to assist the water in going down, it did, but all the water came back up after I secured the garbage disposal.

    Help!!

When the sink has standing water in the sink and drain turning on the disposal will make the disposal act like a centrifugal pump as you've found out.
DO NOT PUT DRAINO OR ANY OTHER CHEMICALS IN THE SINK!! You will be opening up the trap and this stuff could blind you if if got in your eyes. The blockage will be found in the horizontal pipe that's inside your wall. Remove the trap and send a snake into the wall. You8 will hit a bend about 8" in but once around that you will only have to put out about 6 or 7 feet more. After, flush out the drain with hot water. Good luck, Tom
