    NY and NJ taxes
I live in NJ but work in NY. I have only paid NY state income taxes. I will be getting money back from NY, but have to pay NJ state income taxes. Is there any way to avoid having to wait for my NY refund, in order to pay my owed NJ taxes. Is there a form that can be filled out to credit, or do I have to do the money swap?

If your only source of income was from pay from NY, you should owe NOTHING to NJ, as NJ offers a tax credit for taxes paid to NY state.

Since NY state tax rates are higher than NJ, the credit typically completely offsets the NJ tax.

Re-check you tax calculations or get professional help.

There is no tax sharing agreement between NY and NJ, so you will have to pay the NJ tax yourself.

To AtltantaTaxExpert's point - you must have income from other sources in NJ (for example spouse working, interest or dividends received, capital gains, etc.) - correct?
