We have a roommate that is not on our lease and are refussing to leave. The landlord knows about the situation, but doesn't want to get involved. The roommate has called the police on me for breaking a vase that was already broken and now we have a $400.00 fine to pay for having the police at our house. We have verbally given them to 02/18/2008 to leave and they are refussing to leave. The roommate also owes us for 3 months rent. The roommates comes by everyday to pick up some belongings and is always calling me and my family out of our name and being very ignorant. We have not called the police again, since we will have to pay for another fine. Want can we do? We are living in Milwaukee, WI.:confused:

You have to pay a fee for having the police at your apartment?? I would leave that place immediately. THat's the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

When did you give him this notice? If it was more than 30 days ago, he has to leave, or he can be escorted off the property by the police.

Or perhaps try getting a restraining order against him, that forbids him from being a certain distance from you.

No, you don't get fines for calling the police, you get a fine for being found guilty of breaking some law.

You need to go to houseing court ( or the court in your area that does housing) and file for a formal eviction. But nothing can be verbal, it all has to be done formally and in writing.
