I would say to keep stretching your body (not bouncing). My daughter does a little ballet at her dance school and she is always stressing that stretching keeps the body flexible to do anything.

What are your extensions now? I had a teacher when I was 16 that taught me to do a few things that are off the cuff but helped.

Use door frames. Lift your leg and place your foot on one side of the door frame and leave your other foot planted on the ground. Start bracing your balance foot against the opposite door frame and as your flexibility increases you will be able to move it inwards towards the other side of the frame. Before long you will be doing a standing split. Without all of the pressure of your body weight on your legs. (hint: face your raised leg for better balance, and as you move your balance foot in hold frame for balance or use a chair)

Do you have a barre in your house? If not use a kitchen table (if mom and dad are in picture make sure you ask first :p) they are generally at waist level and do more stretches at home. But don't bounce. That tears it doesn't stretch.

The link given is a fabulous one!! Sorry! I just saw it and added this note in!!

Question is getting to be somewhat dated. Original poster has logged back onto this site recently, but has not responded to any of the answers that have been given on this thread. Answers have been sufficient enough.
