    Sick of being homesick
Hi everyone I'm 16 n I suffer from homesickness. I feel like such a kid because it effects me realli badly by not beign able to go on school camps and so forth. I used to be able to stay at friends houses for a night and I would be all right but I seem to be getting worse and can't even do that anymore. I don't want to tell my friends either. This is realli starting to get me down and depressed. Is there anything that can cure this?

Think about what you may be fearful of... as far as why you don't want to be away from home... comfort of a familiar place? Or routine... parent's health? That type of thing...

Then you might be able to narrow in on some possible solutions... such as if it would help to have a cell phone to check in... or if a certain routine is what you miss, think about what might make the visits away more enjoyable in some way... perhaps a routine that you can take with you...

Just a few ideas that came to mind... Heck I'm over 40 and I still feel homesick sometimes...

Hope to hear more from you...

Are you away from home? How come you can't go to camps anymore? Why can't you tell your friends? If they are your true friends I'm sure they would understand if you told them you were homesick and needed some company hun. If you don't ask them, they won't know that you're feeling depressed and lonely. You didn't give a lot of info, so it's hard to give you anymore advice than that. Maybe a few more details would help a bit. :)

    kt123456,

This is quite normal for your age. It’s like you have one foot out the door but you’re not sure that you want to go. It’s like in some people who realise that they are growing up and they are afraid of what the big wide world may have in store for them. You might even feel that you are growing up too fast. It’s like you can go out but only because you have a safe home to come back too. Rest assured this will pass. Just don’t beat yourself up too much in the process. Just go with how you feel, trust your instincts. And I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two of your friends have felt this too and are also afraid to bring it up thinking it’s strange. You don’t have to tell anyone, just go with the flow it’ll pass.
