    IRS 1040 OMB expiration dates
Where do I find the source that shows expiration dates for the IRS 1040 forms? I can't find anything on the OMB website. I am specifically seeking the initial validation and expiration dates for IRS 1040 for tax years 2004 & 2005.
    Thank you

In the top right hand corner of tax forms, there is a control number, which is issued from the Office of Management and Budget. It is generally on ly good for 3 years. In the case of IRS 1040, it is 1545-0074, which has been used for a number of years. I'm trying to figure out wcite when it was first issued.

"It is generally only good for 3 years.'' is not true. If you have a refund, then you must file it within 3 years of date of return. It you owe taxes, then there is no such limit.

1545-0074... sorry I have no idea.

IRS 1040 found not legal in Court

Search for that on the Internet and you will learn a lot, even if you think you are a tax expert.

The OMB number does expire. Check out the government website and read up on this. The IRS Form 1040 has not had a valid OMB number for many years.

Also, search the Internet for Robert Lawrence and the IRS case against him. Using the Paperwork Reduction Act framework for his defense, he forced the Department of Justice and the IRS to drop the case, with prejudice, meaning they cannot try to charge him again for his failure to file the illegal, contraband, bootleg Form 1040.

OUCH -- The IRS has only 3 years to make an assessment against a tax return, and only 10 years in which to collect those taxes before the statute of limitations runs out!

Most forms cite the statute or legislation which supports the request for info. Generally, the form cannot ask for off-subject material, and does have an expiration date. Sadly, our judges are not interested in this anymore, and the IRS has filed it under frivolous!

My nephew is currently in prison for violation of probation. He's serving 3 years and gets out in March. He is now saying that he shouldn't have been arresed for violation since his probation expired on 9/24/04 and he was violated on 10/31/04. Is this even possible? He was arresed on 11/30/04...
