Front Loader Frigidaire water level
I just took delivery on a Frigidaire Gallery front-loading washing machine. I have never had a front-loader before.
When the clothes are washing and rinsing, there is NO water level visible in the drum, just dripping-wet sudsy clothing tumbling around. Is this normal? I am having trouble with the soap washing out. The water pours in on the clothes at intervals and they get dripping wet, sudsy, and get tossed around as the washer rotates. When the final spin is in progress, there are soap bubbles being slung out of the clothes and collecting on the inside of the front window. Even when I run a rinse and spin cycle after the whole wash/rinse/spin cycle is over, there are still some bubbles. I started by using soap to line #2 on the cap, then 1 1/2 then to #1. (Yes, I am using 'he' detergent in the amount recommended.) It was a little better at 1, but I still question whether there should be a level of water visible in the drum. I am using my old dryer with the same dryer sheets - simply saying this to explain that other than not needing to dry the clothes as long, there has been no change in the drying process. The clothes from this front loader appear clean, but have a slightly stiffer texture than those washed in my old machine. Lowe's delivered this washer and installed it. It is on a pedestal. My stand pipe (drain) is the proper height. The drain tube from the washer is inserted about 1 1/2 feet into the stand pipe, about 12-14 inches lower than where it is attached to the back of the washer. |

I was hoping to get an answer before the serviceman came last night. Turns out I was simply using too much detergent. This model apparently uses a fraction of what the HE laundry detergent bottle recommends - i.e. 2 teaspoons instead of half a cup! - for a full load. This machine must also be wiped down and left open to air out after use - even leaving the dispenser drawer open to dry out - otherwise mold and mildew can grow. I love this washer, but it has some quirks that Frigidaire doesn't explain very well or warn consumers about adequately.

My basement recently flodded and I think it damaged the front loading washer I have. When I plugged it back in it seems to work, but the washer doesn't spin... it just fills with water and then nothing... no washing, no spinning.. no nothing! How can this be repaired ?:(
