My 6 year old is in 1st grade and about 3 weeks ago he started to masturbate. He was going up to his room and getting under the covers with his pants and undershorts off and would be embarrassed when I found him. Now he does it even more excessively - as soon as I get him in the car when I pick him up from school and any time he can sneak in before bedtime. I just brought him home from tennis lessons and looked at him behind my seat and he had his pants totally off. When I confront him and said he can't do that so publicly, now these past 2 weeks he just says, "STOP!!!" What can I do to keep his pants on?! It has become excessive! I tell him I'll get stopped by the policeman and get a ticket if he has his pants off, etc. etc. but now that he KNOWS that I know what he is doing under jackets, blankets, etc. he just yells, "STOP!!" at me as if I'm interfering with him. He has 2 twin brothers aged 2.25 years old and I can't have them seeing him do this all the time! He has come to me with a sore penis twice and I've put diaper rash jelly on him. WHAT CAN I DO??

I think you need to find some other outlet to channel his excess energy.

First of all, he should have learned in Kindergarten that privates are the areas covered by a bathing suit, and that he shouldn't be exposing them. I would sit him down and talk to him about this. And, yes, kids masturbate. It sounds like it's just a phase right now. Try not to make him feel ashamed, it's natural, but he can't do things like that in public.
