Diabetes - re: my Son - and a mysterious mold type of growth in the toilet?
My teenage son has diabetes 1 for 2 years now. He is supposed to control the diabetes by injecting himself 4 times a day, etc. etc... He is very angry, and intentionally being very defiant and refusing to take care of his diabetes. Unfortunately it is out of control. The situation is very very terrible. The medical team have tried and tried...
Because he refuses to use the glucometer and does not ever test himself, he injects whatever he wishes, and often not at all. He is "high" very often and also low, and his diabetes is not being controlled.
My question is with regards to a mysterious mold type of growth in the toilet that he uses. I would appreciate if someone could give me an explanation for the following matter.
The toilet that he uses (exclusively) in the house, has a build up of a very strange blackish powder-type of growth [mold(?)] - that is always growing inside the toilet bowl, and after I clean the toilet, it again grows back - and again appears - within i.e. 2 days. And if I let it go the growth becomes more and more! It is very strange!
I know that there must be some kind of connection to this and his urine and being high.
I would be very grateful if someone might be able to help me in finding a medical explanation perhaps? I mentioned this to his Doctor and he shrugged it off and said it must me the cleaner I am using in the toilet. I know that it absolutely is not! :( I use the same regular disinfectant powder cleaner in the toilet that he uses as in the other toilet in the house. He said he didn't know and had never heard of this and went on to talk about something else.
I absolutely know 100% that there is a connection of the diabetes and being dangerously high and the reaction is coming out in the urine - and somehow this blackish mold type of growth may be because of the amount of sugar in his urine?? Does this make sense to anyone? I cannot find information about this anywhere on the internet. I need this information as I want to prove to the Doctor that this is not from the cleaner, but as a result of being dangerously high... Help?
    Thank you very much.

It really makes no difference, as the issue is the boy learning how to maintain his own health. That's the focus, not some side issue, the doctor cannot be concerned with. Bear with me, as what can the doctor do about your toilet, if you are correct? Your son must still take his medicine, and eat right, and that's the bottom line.

People with uncontrolled diabetes produce yeast, A WHITE powdery type of substance on their body.

Having uncontrolled diabetes is like being a human still. It is really quite unpleasant a feeling, and high blood sugar can cause difficulty in reasoning.

Try using straight bleach in his toilet to kill the black mold. Get him to start paying more attention to his health before he goes into diabetic shock or worse happens to him. Also like Choux stated he is essentially a human still producing his own brand of "alcohol" in his system and probably likes getting high from it.

Just wanted to comment on the black toilet bowl. I clean houses and one of my clients has the same problem in 2 of her bathrooms. We went crazy trying to figure out where it was coming from as the tank was clean but the bowls at and below the water line were black. At first I thought maybe her kids were spitting out their supplements, then I thought maybe one of the supplements was passing through the urine. Today she just called me to tell me her 9 year old has been diagosed with type 1 diabetes. We too believe there is a link between the icky toilet bowl and the diabetes. THe little girls blood surgar was over 500. Once it gets under control we will see if the toilet begins to stay clean. Tell your Dr you are not crazy. Just because he's never heard of something doesn't mean it can't be so! And maybe the dr should be concerned. Maybe your sons dirty toilet is an indicator that his surgar is high and something needs to be done. Diabetes is not something to mess around with.

The facts are that diabetes can kill. Black mold is far far worse. Quit being stupid. Diabeties DOES NOT cause black mold! Perhaps you have lived with the KILLER black mold for so long that you are grasping for anything that you think makes sense. Black mold, will impair your mobility thus making stupid statements sound OK. Old unmaintained buildings, and people that don't want to buy new fixtures and correct bathroom problems are one day going to kill you. Call the EPA. Get some help or you may find that you have no choice but to DIE!!
Also animals know when something is not right. Try watching your cats and dogs, if they will not go in a room with this mold, you can probably bet that they know YOU WILL DIE, if you stay in there.

Hello Sayitlikeitis, We are not talking about THE "Black Mold" We are talking about a moldy substance that is black. There is a difference here. We are also not talking about old dirty houses with outdated plumbing. The home I am talking about was built about 3 years ago in a very upscale neighborhood. The black is not in the toilet tank and not above the water line in the bowl. There is also no black residue in the tub, shower, kitchen or laundry like you would think if it were simply a plumbing problem or water problem. The black appears a mere 2-3 days after cleaning the toilet and only from the water line on down. I told the homeowner I work for to try closing down one bathroom, not using the toilet but to continue to flush a few times a day to see if the black was coming from the pipes. Guess what? That toilet stayed clean and the other two in the house got more black. Unless you are experincing the problem yourself please don't criticize those who are trying to find answers no matter far fetched they may seem to you. Just because you have never heard of the problem or can't explain it does not mean other people who think there is a connection between the black toilet and diabetes stupid. Stupid is the person who THINKS they knows all the answers,

My only intent in commenting to the original question was to support the lady who asked it. WHen it comes to diagnosing people there are always things missed and misunderstood. Many doctors and scientists will say something can't be happening because they've never heard of it before. WHen peoples intuition tells them something is going on they are usually correct no matter what the text books say. I don't know you or what you meant by calling the orignial lady stupid, You may not have meant to sound condescending but that's how it appeared. In the written word we cannot hear voice inflection or see facial expressions. And read my last post again. I did not call you a fool. The quote says people (I did not say you) who think they are so wise are the fools. If that applies to you, you can change. If not, well then maybe next time you comment on someone's question you can treat them a little bit more respectful. I will not be responding to any more posts on this subject. Good day to you.
