I believe I have a painting by Horatio H Couldery. The painting is titled Kittens at play.
Actual painting has been done on a small block of wood.
Has anyone ever seen any other paintings on wood by this artist?

I am not familiar with that artist painting anything on wood. That doesn't mean that he didn't however. The records of that work that I have found from a source to which I subscribe show the original as being oil paint used on canvas.

Do you think that what you have is an original?

    Hi Clough,

All I know about the piece of art that I have is that it was a present to me 25 years or more ago. A friend who worked in an antique shop bought it for me.
I can't see a signature on the painting but there is a sticker on the back which I am assuming the antique shop put on it. It reads: Kittens at play by Horatio H Couldrey
B 1832. Unfortunately I have lost contact with the friend that gave it to me so I can't get any information on it from him.

    pitma.
