    Depends on what you mean by owe. If you have a order of support against you and you have been paying in a timely fashion ( no arrears ) then no they will not take it from you. If you " owe " arrears then most likely they will because its well within their power to do a IRS intercept of a return if your due a refund. U.S. only. If your in another country then disreguard that answer.

    If you owe back child support... yes they probably will.

    There was nothing written in our child support order that I would get my daughters fathers tax refund. But anytime he files taxes (which had only been once in the past 4 years) I get his refund to catch up the child support.

    It's actually a pretty easy way to catch up on back child support... sadly, most people don't see it that way.

    yes my x owes over 5,000.00 and the IRS and the state takes his taxes every year. Sorry to bring you the bad news.

    Yes they could take any refunds your expecting if your in arrears. But look at it this way, at least it's paying off your arrears amount.

    Actually it depends on how much is owed and what state the order is out of. California charges 10% interest for arrears so depending on the amount owed it might not pay anything to it just some of the interest.
