J-1 In Florida Tax Return 2007
Hello, I'm a J1 working here in Florida, twice

    The first period was 12/2006 - 4/2007
    I have worked in a Adventure Park. And I have gotten a second job 02/2007 - -3/2007

Then I have returned to the park in... 12/2007 - 3/2008

I want to know if I have to fill the form 1040nr-ez. No dependents and nobody has claimed me.

I believe I have lost the 2006 taxes, and they were like 30 dollars.

Right now I want to do my tax return for 2007, and only for my job in the adventure park because I don't have a way to get my w2 for my second job. So What should I do? And Can I do my tax return on line?

    Thanks for your help.

    Alicia:

In about three weeks, call the IRS and get a xcopy of your tax script. It will have your W-2 information for your missing W-2.

Then take it to a competent tax pro who does non-resident returns and he can reproduce the W-2 for you.

How much did you earn in 2006? If it is less than the filing requirements, then you are not required to file tax return. You will file it only to get tax refund.

A nonresident tax return can't be filed online. Also to tell you if you will file as resident or nonresident, more info is needed.

Thank you for the answer, well I have earned in the adventure parks like 5500 in 2007, and in my other job like 1000.

I am not really interested in doing my tax refund about my second job it's like 100 dollars.

I have to fill 1040nr-ez, and do I fill the form 8919? because my employer didn't withholded me any medicare and social security tax, I'm and in the Work and Travel program so they don't deducted that from our paychecks.

    And what about form 8843.

Thanks for you help, again :)

J1 visa holders are exempt from FICA taxes for 2 years. That is why the employer did not withhold the social security and medicare taxes.

For 2007, a nonresident must file tax return if the income is more than $3,400. If your total income in 2007 is 6500, then your taxable income is $3100 (if you don't have any itemized deduction). Your federal tax is $310. So if the federal tax withheld is less than $310, you will owe tax.

Agreed; You file Form 8843 with the tax return.
