    New W2.Already Filed Jointly
Ok, here's the deal. Before my husband and I met, I worked at a restaurant for 3 months, March-May of 2007. I didn't expect to be getting a W2 from them, because I got the job through a friend. I didn't fill out an application, my boss didn't ask me for ID to put on file or anything. So, I kind of figured it was an under the table job. I mean, I did get paid, but I thought it was kind of strange that he didn't ask for ID for filing.

Since I didn't expect to get a W2, when my husband got his, we filed jointly with my occupation as a housewife. We already got our return. A week later, I get this W2 from my old job.

What should I do with it? I don't want to get into trouble with the IRS, I just want this taken care of. Any suggestions?

First, never assume that the job is "under the table". Learn from this error.

Next, amend the return using Form 1040X. If you file the amended return and pay the additional tax owed before 15 April 2008, no penalties or interest should be due.
