I'm having big problems with my drilled well.
I need to know if I've got shafted or not? From an expert in the field of drilled wells?
I had a 6in well put on my land with a half horse in well pump and pessure tank in the well. Cost me a bit over $5000.00. Well three years later we built our house on the lot about 140' from the well. Since the first day we built, the well was fine for about one year. Then I started having poblems with the pressure switch burning out.. every time id call the company that installed it they told me its because of the distance from the well to the house,Ive been told that would only cause a slight pressure drop maybe a pound or two so it should not burn up these switches so fast. The pressure switch is also down the well, not sure it should be?Last time the guy was here to install new switch we did it together and when we had the well head off we heard water leaking down the well..
And at night when no ones using water in the house the pump runs, the lights in the house flicker slightly telling me so, does this not mean a leak? Causing pressure loss?
I need help here with the point I'm trying to get across to the installer of this well.
1.The distance should not make the switch open and close rappidly like it does, burning it out so fast.
2.There must be a leak in the system causing the pump to switch on when no ones using water.
3.Ive spent $6000.00 dollars on this well already isn't that enough? And it still does not work!!

No well expert but some things that I question.
6" well and a 1/2 horse pump. Seems like small pump for such a big well. How deep is well?
Pump coming on when no water being used sounds like leak in system some where or defective check valve. Sound of water running back down well sounds like leak in piping going down well.
Pressure switch in well, never heard of that, but not well expert . Most of the time pressure switch is on tank or on line close to it.
Lights dimming when pump comes sounds like high amperage draw. What size is wiring to pump? At a 140 from house plus depth of well wire size may need to be increased.
Poor seals around wire conections to pump wires could be creating short circuits. These connections are under water.
Pump could be defective but sounds more like leaking pipe in well and bad insulation or seals around wire connections.
