Hey guys, would really appreciate any help on this. We built a new house with Minto a couple of years ago. We received possession in Dec 2005. We have a new baby and his room seems to be very cold over the other rooms in the house (I am checking to how much the temp. difference is as we speak). Under the room is the entrance and the living room (which are warm), to the right is my daughter's room (which is warm).

Many times there are balance dampers on the duct work. Usually you will see a handle that you can turn to increase/decrease air flow. By adjusting some other ducts closed a bit and opening the one to the baby's room you can get additional air flow into the baby's room.

If that fails a good quality 120 Volt portable (speed and heat adjustable) box heater can be added to that room. If you add the box heater you can have complete control over the heat in the baby's room.

Thanks for the reply man... I have adjusted the dampers as much as I can... but still can not get decent temp control.
Is there anything I can do to hold the builder liable... from a building code perspective? Do you know?

You bought the house in 2005 so it is over one year old. You could call the builder but you may have to take him to court and then you would not know if you would win or loose. That can be a expensive option.

Most all building codes have a minimal temperature statement for winter use.

You will have to visit the local building department OR make a phone call and discus this with a inspector.

The cheapest way out is still the box heater.

First have you checked actual temperature to see what the difference is. Does this room have more windows, are there seals OK around window.
There are also in the vent fans that can help pull more air into rooms or sections of a home that can be added.
