You have to pay it. Odds are that the property taxes accrued during the time you were not paying your mortgage payment and your mortgage payment probably had the taxes and insurance escrowed in with it? So, if that was the case, every time you missed a mortgage payment they didn't pay the state it's property tax. Taxes are one of those beautiful things that often times do not go away with BK's. Odds are you will have to suck it up and pay, but call the lawyer that did your BK and ask them to be sure. If you call the state I am sure they will work out a payment plan with you... otherwise it could turn into a wage garnishment issue. And that would suck!

I am not an attorney, but I believe that back PROPERTY taxes can be included in a bankruptcy.

So, first thing, call the bankruptcy attorney and see if they addressed this in the bankruptcy.

If not, ask why not; they MAY have screwed up, in which case the law firm may end up paying the $800 tax bill.

If that is NOT the case, then call the state and see about a payment plan.
