Prenatal vitamins-am I normal?
I bought the prenatal vitamins from the out of the counter regular store 2 weeks ago. Ive been taking it every morning since the day 1, up until this past weekend, I'm starting to have a real bad headaches, that's all. Then today is Monday, I still have really bad headaches even worse than this past weekend and now realized that my whole face is sore even my eyelid around it too. I was thinking why am I having this pain/sore around my face and headaches... so I was thinking maybe am I allergy to this prenatal vitamins or else? I don't have any history of allergy anything. So I'm not sure if its normal being like that or what? My period won't start until this feb 3rd as my 28th cycle which its normal track lately. It just weird to find that out about my face like that. Really hope you could tell me what do you think? Thanks.

Why are you taking prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant? Makes no sense to me.

The headaches and facial swelling may or may not be related to the vitamins. Stop taking them and see a physician about your symptoms.
If you are, or are trying to be pregnant, natural prenatal vitamins may be better. I know that when I switched to natural vitamins, I no longer threw up the vitamin.

It is a good idea to start taking prenatals, or at least folic acid when you are trying to conceive. It doesn't usually hurt to keep taking the vitamins even when you aren't pregnant(ofcourse you should talk to your doctor, to make sure you don't have iron rich blood or something like that, as you could then be getting too much iron etc. my sister has had iron rich blood all her life, just found out she is pregnant, and has enough iron in her system that she doesn't need an iron supplement, only takes other vitamins she needs.) I take prenatals, even when I am not pregnant, as you never know when you might conceive(if you are having sex, you run a risk pregnancy, planned or not.) However, I usually just take half the dosing, because I am a bit paranoid in that area. If sexually active, its at least a good idea to be taking folic acid, as it helps pervent birth defects that occur before you even know you are pregnant in most cases. You should definitely go see your doctor about your situation. I suggest you stop taking your vitamins until you are able to find out, it very well could be that you are allergic, or getting too much of something. Good luck, and let us know.

Hey I'm back. Here's the update about me. I went to the dr today and No, I'm not allergic to the prenatal vitamins! Thank god! Everything else is normal for me. What happened to my headaches and the sore was that I have a severe mirgrains with muscle contraction headache. Dr already gave me the precrip. Medicine to get me feel better. Plus took urine pregnant test, turn out it was negative. Oh well. We will keep on trying again. I wanted to tell you, thank you for your time to read this and responding back with the advice and everything. Have a good evening.

Every woman of childbearing years should take a vitamin that contains folic acid to prevent neural tube defects. Prenatal vitamins are the best on the market. I am 43 and in menopause and still take prenatal vitamins.
Glad to hear that it's not the vitamins. I was going to suggest a flu. LOL, I just had the Same symptoms that lasted for 3 days. Was the flu. I just spent those 3 days in the dark and in bed till it went away. Hope you are feeling better.

In two weeks, my pregnant wife has her first doctor appointment. In the meantime, can anyone recommend a good over-the-counter prenatal vitamin with a sufficient amount of folic acid, iron, vitamin B6, etc. Thanks.
