Payment on an auto loan 3 months old
If some one is three months late on their auto loan, and they go to the financial institution that ahs the loan and they make one payment, can they still rpossess my auto?

Yes, they don't HAVE to accept anything other than the full amount you owe. Now the question becomes whether you can make a payment arrangement on the other 2 payments plus stay up to date because presumably they don't want the bother of repo-ing your car; nor do you.

JudyKayTee is right, they can still repo as long as it is legal in your State and or County.

The biggest reason that people's cars get repossessed is because in most cases, the debtor STOPS communicating with the lender. Kind of like they think that if they can just avoid talking to the lender, then everything must be OK, I don't understand the mind set, but, I'm on the other side of the coin on this one.

I have never done a repo on any customer who would at least return my calls, and make ANY kind of effort to get the account paid current. It is only those who ignore and avoid me that end up "back on their feet again".

Yes, they can. I don't know whether they'll do so for just being 3 months late (2 months if you make the one payment you're speaking of) but yes, they can.
