    Getting rid of old TV
I just replaced my living room TV with a new HD model. The old TV worked great, its only drawbacks were that it was not HD and not widescreen. It's a 46" Mitsubishi projection model with Coax, Composite, S-Video and component inputs.

My questions is; what do I do with it? I'm loath to just throw it out since it works so well, but I'm not sure if there would be a market for it. Should I try putting it on E-Bay or craigslist? I would imagine that only someone local would be interested. Would it make a good monitor for a video game system?

Should I try to see if a charity might want it and then take it as a tax deduction?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. Watching the Giants win Sunday in 56", widescreen HD was fantastic ;) Looking forward to Super Bowl XLII

Scottgem. First I would like to congratulate you on your knowledge and help you have provided people. As well for your new 56", widescreen HD. I personally wouldn't try to sell it on eBay. I sold allot of TV's in my day on eBay and you will never get what you won't for it. I would recommend try your local newspaper or even a buy and sell magazine, they work great for selling home furniture like your TV. If you have the room hold onto it and you will find some one that you know or even a friend of a friend will buy it from you. You have to tell me what the quality is like if you go with HD TV Channels. Happy selling. Oh the idea of donating it to charity was a great thought. Cheers to you..

You can always donate to the nearest homeless shelter, community shelter, abuse home, school, nursing home, or church.

Scott, in addition to the thoughts expressed above, I would suggest you look for a college newspaper to advertise in, depending on what price you are asking. A new 46" TV would be beyond the budget of a student, but a house of four or more party animals might be very interested in a good used one, especially since it has all the inputs needed for video games, DVD and surround sound.

Remember if you send signal to the TV through a satellite or cable box you will still be able to use it after broadcast signals go digital. HD is great, but a good analog TV will still be useful for years. Good luck!
