Does the Kuomintang electoral victory mean an eventual peaceful Taiwan reunification with mainland China ?

I guess that remains to be seen but I doubt it. There is still the presidential election in March and most reports say DPP's loss was more a reflection of their mistrust of Chen Shui-bian than support for Kuomintang. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

China's biding it's time . One of the great unanswered questions of the US Presidential race is the degree of comittment the various candidates have towards the defense of Taiwan.

Seems all we have to go by is past history of what they've said. Based on that McCain probably has the edge.

At this time I don't think so. Taiwan is currently in a heavy advertisement campaign to draw tourism from the States.
