If you are interested in a manufacturing technique just start googling the thermopane glass and you will learn tons. Basically double glazed glass is two pane of glass held apart by approximately 1/8". The space between the glass may be called an air space but it is likely an inert gas that was pumped in before the edges were sealed with a dessicant and then silicone seal.
