    Let me guess, you meet some wonderful girl online, and she loves you move than anything, and wants to marry you and be with you forever??
    I am close, the cost for the passport and visa is less than 30 dollars if they will wait about a month to get it, the cost for the rush that they get in 3 days is about 120 dollars.

    No they do not need so many 1000's of dollars in the bank to get it.

    No they don't need to pay a bribe to some government official

    And no there is no other illegal or required payments.

    What there is, is the largest interent scam ever done, where photos of young girls, or young girls hired by scam artists, find people on dating sites and start chatting, and then get them to send 100's or 1000's to them for all sorts of costs, and then guess what, they will need 1000's more for something else, they keep taking the money till you are out of the money or till you figure it out,

    Go the US embassy web site for ghana and you will see 2/3 of the web site is nothing but warnings to people of this scam.

    It's $10 and a visa into the US costs $131, there is a sticky about this in the visas and passports section.
