If you're talking about the general election, that's fine, no problem as you don't have to declare a party affiliation to vote in the general election. If you're talking about the primary election then you'll have to declare your affiliation with the Democrat Party in order to vote for a democrat candidate. There may be a certain waiting period since you last declared your affiliation with the republican party and I'm not sure what that is. But keep in mind that you don't have to vote in the primary election to be eligible to vote in the general election. As long as you've voted within the past few years and haven't moved since then you should be OK come November. If you're in a position where you need to re-register, either due to relocating or not having voted for several years then do so promptly and you should be eligible to change your party affiliation. But, on a lighter, more humorous side, why the hell would a registered republican want to vote for a democrat? Sorry, but as a staunch republican myself I had to get that one in lol!

You do not need to change party affiliation to vote for a candidate of a different party in the general election. If you are talking about voting in the primaries then you probably need to do so ;but not necessarily... it depends on your state's rules.

To change your party affiliation you need to get the necessary forms from your state's board of elections . What State are you registered in ? I can probably privide a link .

Ok, I am considering finally getting ME off my system and going to XP. My system runs pretty good ( I try to keep it as clean and lean as possible) except for all the ME quirks that are well known: error screens, restarts, improper shutdows, software conflicts, etc. I was going to wait...
