Out of pocket expenses included in 1099
    Hello,
I do Independent Contractor work and received a 1099 that included in my pay monies I had paid out of pocket, up front for hotel and food. They were supposed to reimburse me separately and I'm not sure how to show this on my taxes. Any help would be appreciated

?? Was the company paying you back for hotel and food?? Normally as a independent contractor you just pay them yourself and don't get paid back.

But you can deduct them as a business expense as long as they meet the requirements for deductions.

    Agreed.

However, you should go get professional tax advice. Filing a Schedule C and SE are NOT for amateurs.

As an independent contractor you will file schedule C (Form 1040). On schedule C you can deduct all your business related expenses even for fool and hotel (if the expenses qualify).

Even if your employer reimburses you, normally he will report it as fringe benefit and include in your income. Only if the employer reimburses you under the accountable plan, then they won't report it as your income.
