    Firewire doesn't recognize the camcorder
I had connected my camcorder using a cable to Firewire (IEEE1394) before to burn videos to DVDs. It worked fine . But recently I tried again , it seems the computer doesn't recognize the connection of the camcorder through FIREWIRE. I have XP home edition operating system. Can anyone help me with this problem?

If it worked yesterday and it doesn't work today then you have to figure out what has changed since.
Have you installed or uninstalled any applications?
Does the Firewire port work with any other devices?
Is the camera powered on when it's plugged into the port?

Only thing I can think of is I have installed the recommended service pack SP2 few months back.. I found in some websites about people having the same problem after insalling SP2. I was wondering anyone had a similar expereince and how did they manage to solve it?

OK this may sounds really silly, but have you turned on the camcorder to send the information to the computer ?

Computer doesn't recognize the camcorder through Firewire
Yes I did turn on the camcorder. I have done this before and I am familiar with the process. I think I have to look more into the Service pack Installation causing this problem which I mentioned in my earlier posting.

Google your camera make and model and SP2 to see if anything turns up. Also I assume you checked your manufacturer's support site.
